Super Smash Bros. N64

Super Smash Bros., known in Japan as Nintendo All-Star! Dairantou Smash Brothers, often shortened to "Smash 64", "SSB", or "SSB64", is the first game of the Super Smash Bros. series. It is the only Super Smash Bros. game to be rated E, while the other two games are rated T according to ESRB. As a relatively low-budget game with an unusual concept, there were not originally any plans to export the game outside Japan. Only the game's unexpected popularity led to its worldwide release. The game was released in Japan on January 21, 1999, in North America on April 26, 1999, and in Europe on November 19, 1999. The game is playable on Nintendo 64 and the iQue Player, and is available on the Wii's Virtual Console. The European Virtual Console version was released on June 12th 2009, and the American Virtual Console version was released on December 21, 2009. Opening video:

Luigi appears in Super Smash Bros. as one of the four unlockable characters. Throughout Nintendo's history, he has always lived in Mario's shadow. Super Smash Bros. is no exception, as Luigi is often considered as just an inferior clone of Mario. Regardless, Luigi should not be underestimated, as his combos, although less varied and versatile than Mario's, can be followed by his devastating Super Jump Punch attack.
Mario is considered to be the balanced character. His stats are overall average to slightly subpar, with average weight, size, and falling speed, and below average walking, dashing, and air speeds. He overall has a good combination of low power and high power attacks, giving him a pretty strong combo ability with many options, yet a variety of KO moves and options. He also has a projectile in his Fireball, that is a decent way to prevent opponent approaches due to falling downward while moving forward if used in the air. On the ground, it travels too slowly (along with the move's ending lag) to be effective however.
Donkey Kong, written as DK, is a starter character in Super Smash Bros. He is known as a slow (in terms of attacks) yet powerful character, with his trademark move being the Giant Punch, which, when fully charged, deals 36% damage.
Link appears as a starter character in Super Smash Bros. He is the sole representative of The Legend of Zelda series. Having many disjointed melee attacks and two projectile weapons, Link can be a hassle to approach. However, his lack of speed and maneuverability cause problems for Link in approaching an opponent. In fact, much of Link's strategy consists of standing back, throwing a few projectiles, and waiting for an opening. Due to his slow ground movements and attacks, it is imperative that Link players be able to not only short hop but be able to input an attack immediately afterward.
Samus, written as Samus Aran, is a starter character in Super Smash Bros.. Samus is a heavy, yet floaty, character with decent horizontal recovery. However, she also has sluggish moves with a lot of ending lag, and she lacks a quick and easy-to-land KO move.
Captain Falcon, whose full name is Captain Douglas Jay Falcon, or Doug and sometimes Flacno by the Smash 64 community, appears in Super Smash Bros. as one of the four unlockable characters. His appearance is based on his incarnation from F-Zero X for the Nintendo 64.
Ness is a secret character in Super Smash Bros. He is well-known for his unique second jump and recovery. He, along with Yoshi, can double jump cancel, allowing them to use quick aerials and specials.
Yoshi is a starter character in Super Smash Bros.Yoshi is known for having unique properties compared to the other characters in the game - his shield, an egg rather than the standard energy bubble, doesn't shrink (making him completely immune to shield stabbing), allows parry techniques, and lasts slightly longer than the normal shield.
Kirby is a starter character in Super Smash Bros.. He is known for being a small and light character with quick, surprisingly long-ranged attacks, as well as some strong moves and a great recovery.
Fox McCloud is the main character from the Star Fox series and a starting character in all three Super Smash Bros. games.
Pikachu is a starter character in Super Smash Bros. It is originally from the Pokémon universe, being the recognisable mascot of the Pokémon series. It is generally a light, quick character, with fast walking, dashing, and air speeds, though its falling speed is slightly below average. While its attacks are generally fast, it has a few rather powerful moves, though its moveset is overall more combo-orientated.
Jigglypuff is a unlockable character in Super Smash Bros.. It is notable for similar appearance and nature to Kirby, and the fact that they share a lot of moves makes them semi-clones. It is also notable for being the lightest, floatiest, and lowest gravity character in the game. Expert Smashers can use and abuse Jigglypuff's low knockback attacks and floatiness to their advantage in several combos against heavier characters.
